After researching many photographers and getting opinions from the powers at be, we have decided to go with Scott E. Thomas and Daughter Photography. Jessica was great to meet with, and we felt very confident in our choice after our meeting. She seems very talented and willing to help us with the planning of our photos.
Room reservations information link is now up on the right. Discounted room rates are available for Friday and Saturday night.
From the think tank that are Shannon’s friends from our annual trip to Lake Okoboji, we bring you the donate to our honeymoon page. It’s to the right under Gift Registry. Check it out!
We will definitely have more traditional registry options as well, probably Target, Bed Bath and Beyond, and Amazon.
Thank you all!

Got my ring yesterday night.. server was down so I couldn’t blog about it. Got it from http://www.tungstenjewellry.com/ .. they have a factory overseas that makes tungsten and ceramic jewelery. So they can make any size, and any width too, which is very important to me, cuz I can’t have more than a 5mm width. They’ll laser engrave it for you for free (mine says: “To My Sweetie…”). Oh ya, and most of their stock is < $100. The markup on this stuff is just insane.. like 200%. Delivery was from China (where the factory is), but it got here in like a week. Totally happy with them… we might get another one for me from there that is a little fancier for formal kind of events.
Trying to decide if I should add a band or not to mine. It might cover part of the pretty sides so I am torn??? Nick is definitely going with a ceramic ring, but there are alot of really neat ones to choose from. I think we are going to make a decision on that tonight. All I know is the my engagement ring is still my favorite “thing” and I love to stare at it.
1/8 We have decided to have a band custom made for my ring. Nothing else that we saw really fit it very well. We are having Tony at Set N Stones do it. So far we like him way better the people at Kennedy’s jewelry and are hoping it turns out perfect.
I called both the Indep and the downtown courthouses.. they said to call back next year just to make sure, but right now it looks like unless we know a Missouri judge who is willing to do it on their off time, we can’t go in front of a judge.. both people I talked to said judges are too busy to do that anymore
instead, they have a way around it for people wanting to get married without a religious minister involved…
The Indep courthouse people have a “minister” that will do the ceremony on Fridays and Saturdays by appointment. That person has a little chapel they do it in, but they’ll say/do anything you want.
The downtown courthouse has a guy that is authorized to do it there at the courthouse who is just upstairs from where you get the license… she said going that route takes less than an hour and is first come first served and it can be whatever you want it to be.
I’m leaning toward the downtown courthouse, but that means that we’ll have to married on Friday and not Saturday, and that’s annoying, but I think less annoying than going in front of a “fake priest”.

If we went with that Independence place, then these are the people they use:

and here’s a little more on that

Boone county (Columbia, MO) has a circuit judge listed as a potential contact

St Louis has info on getting married on Wednesdays in St Louis… also a blurb on there how you can look up any municipal judge in any municipal court and ask them to marry you.. that doesn’t seem like the way to go.. I mean if they get busy or cancel, you are boned
We have reserved the Boulevard Brewery for our rehearsal dinner. Nick’s beer of choice is Boulevard Wheat so we thought it would be fitting to celebrate there. We had thought about having the actual wedding there, but the location wasn’t great so we settled for at least the rehearsal. In sticking with the Kansas City theme, we plan on having Waldo’s pizza catered in…KC pizza and beer…mmmm!
